Cardamom Essential Oil

Cardamom is a member of the ginger family that’s known for supporting a healthy stomach.* It grows best in the shade and lives an average of seven years. It generally starts to bear fruit two to three years after planting and produces 10 to 20 cardamom seeds in each papery seedpod. It’s harvested from September through February.

Cardamom essential oil is steam-distilled from the plant’s small black seeds. Cardamom grows well in India, but the booming local spice industry often prevents it from being exported. doTERRA sources Cardamom oil from Guatemala and Honduras, which have similar climates. Cardamom is a newer crop to Honduras, offering significant additional income to banana and sugar cane farmers.

Coriander Essential Oil

Coriander essential oil is sourced from the seeds of an aromatic annual herb that grows up to three feet high—the same plant we get Cilantro essential oil from. Like Lavender essential oil, Coriander oil has a high linalool content, which promotes a clear complexion when applied to the skin. It’s sweet, herbaceous aroma adds a fresh, hearty note to essential oil blends.

Coriander may aid healthy colon function.*

Ginger Ginger

Ginger Essential Oil

Sourced from Madagascar, Ginger essential oil is derived from the fresh rhizome—subterranean stalk—of the ginger plant that shoots out the root system. Ginger oil can be applied topically or inhaled for a soothing, calming aroma.

Ginger is best known for easing occasional indigestion and nausea.*

Caraway Caraway

Caraway Essential Oil

Caraway essential oil comes from a member of the carrot family, which is a cousin of dill, fennel, anise, and cumin! Limonene and carvone—two of the main chemical constituents in Caraway oil—have been shown to soothe the colon when ingested.*

Caraway essential oil smells herbaceous and woody. A drop or two of Caraway oil makes a great addition to essential oil blends as a warm yet fresh note.

Fennel Fennel

Fennel Essential Oil

Fennel essential oil is widely known for its licorice aroma and taste, which are calming yet invigorating. Fennel oil also helps manage occasional gastrointestinal disturbances. The fennel plant grows up to six feet tall and has delicate, feathery leaves.

Fennel usage dates back to ancient Roman when warriors were said to have consumed fennel in preparation for battle.
