The devastation caused by the 2022 Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai eruption was felt immediately following the tsunami which slammed into the coast, causing catastrophic damage. The dōTERRA Healing Hands Foundation AUNZ was there at this critical stage of the crisis, supporting UNICEF to deliver 44 tons of emergency supplies in the days immediately following the disaster. ​​

But the devastation continues to be felt across the Tongan community. Psycho-social support (PSS) workers deployed by UNICEF report that the events of the night are still haunting children. They are afraid that the tsunami will hit their island again and many families still cannot accept that they have lost their houses and belongings. ​​

So, although support has now shifted to the recovery phase, the dōTERRA Healing Hands Foundation AUNZ continues to stand alongside UNICEF and those devastated, bringing healing and hope to communities in need.

In addition to continuing to deliver vital supplies, we're also supporting the PSS team to provide assistance for children and adults in these communities to help them deal with the ongoing stress, fear and anxiety caused by the tragedy.​​
