Cleaning the bathroom probably isn’t your favorite chore, but it can be! Breathing in the scent of harsh, synthetic cleaners can make the experience unpleasant, but the fresh aromas of nonsynthetic doTERRA essential oils makes this must-do chore a much more enjoyable experience.

The next time you clean your bathroom, try mixing up an effective cleaner with ingredients you likely already have at home. This easy recipe for a soft scrub is great for getting rid of soap scum, removing stains, and brightening your tub, tile, and toilet. The best thing about it? Naturally sourced Lemon essential oil gives this scrub an extra cleansing boost while leaving behind a fresh, citrusy scent.

SUPPLIES

  • ¾ rounded cup baking soda
  • ¼ cup unscented liquid castile soap
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • ½ tbsp On Guard® Cleaner Concentrate
  • 5–10 drops Lemon oil

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In bowl, combine baking soda and castile soap until the mixture looks homogenous.
  2. Add water to the baking soda and soap mixture, then stir.
  3. Add vinegar, cleaner concentrate, and essential oil until the consistency feels like a soft paste.
  4. Start cleaning! To use, apply some of the paste to the bathtub or other ceramic or tile surfaces. Allow to sit for 5-10 minutes, then gently scrub with a soft brush or rag. Once finished scrubbing, take a wet cloth and wipe clean to reveal a sparkly surface! For an extra-deep clean, consider repeating with two to four applications.

Cleaning the bathroom with essential oils is not only simple, but effective and satisfying! Discover that you love this scrub? Make it ahead of time in small batches, then store in an airtight container for quick access the next time cleaning-day comes around. This soft scrub is also great to use when cleaning your kitchen sink or refrigerator—the possibilities are endless!
