Banana Bread with Cardamom Essential Oil


Sometimes, all a classic recipe needs is an exciting new take. For us, that meant putting a spiced twist on our banana bread recipe by adding Cardamom essential oil. Cardamom oil has a warm, vibrant flavor profile with subtle minty notes that perfectly complements sweets and baked goods. This banana bread recipe also replaces traditional white sugar with pure maple syrup for an added depth of flavor. Believe us, once you’ve tried banana bread with Cardamom oil, you’ll never want to go back to the old ways again!

Ingredients

Wet

  • ¼ cup milk
  • 6 tablespoons olive oil
  • 6 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ¼ cups mashed, ripe bananas
  • 2 drops Cardamom essential oil

Dry

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • Optional: 1 cup pecans, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 175° C.
  2. Line a 9x5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper, or oil lightly.
  3. In a large bowl, combine dry ingredients and whisk until well combined.
  4. In a blender, add all wet ingredients and Cardamom essential oil and blend until smooth.
  5. Add banana mixture and combined wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and combine with a spatula, using as few strokes as possible. Fold in nuts if desired.
  6. Pour the finished batter into your oiled or parchment-lined loaf pan, making sure to level out the top.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
