Tea with Ginger Oil and Fennel Oil

Summer barbecues are no match for teatime! Maybe tea isn’t the first beverage you’d think to drink in June, but hot drinks like herbal teas  are a great way to calm and soothe the stomach at the start of the day or after a big meal (we’re looking at you, family potluck). Plus, adding a few drops of essential oil makes tea an opportunity to wrap your senses in a unique layer of aromas and flavors!

Some essential oils make particularly suitable partners for a tea break—in herbal teas, two of our favorite add-ins are Fennel oil and Ginger oil. Both add a gentle, spiced dimension to otherwise mellow flavors like chamomile and peppermint tea through their complex, soothing aromas. Adding a touch of honey as well doesn’t hurt—a delicious touch of sweetness that’s especially perfect if you’re keeping away from all those refined, processed sugars! This is one of our favorite ways to sip herbal tea, and we think you’ll love it, too.

SUPPLIES
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Steep and prepare the tea bag according to label instructions (for herbal teas, about 4-5 minutes in water heated just to a boil).
  2. Using a toothpick, add essential oils to the prepared teacup.
  3. Sweeten with honey to taste.

The key to a soothing tea break is to sip slowly and breathe deeply! Fennel oil and Ginger oil add a particularly rich dimension to your tea experience with their dynamic aromas; get your sense of smell involved, take a moment to meditate, and just enjoy being present.  Whether you’re starting out your morning right, stealing a slow moment in the afternoon, or topping off a quiet evening, teatime is your time.
