Clary Sage is native to the northern Mediterranean basin and can grow up to 1.2 meters.
The Clary Sage plant, Salvia sclarea is a biennial herb—meaning it grows every two years—that thrives in full sunlight and well-drained soil. In the first year of growth, the base of the plant produces gray-green, course leaves. During its second year of growth, the plant yields upward-spiked lavender, pink, or white flowers from stalks. Clary Sage essential oil is extracted from these flowers through the process of steam distillation.
The woody, herbaceous, floral aroma of Clary Sage essential oil blends well with citrus oils such as Lemon oil, Lime oil, and Wild Orange oil, or with earthy or floral essential oils like Frankincense oil, Cypress oil, Geranium oil, and Hawaiian Sandalwood oil for diffusion.
