Origin: a Latin derivative
meaning "Gift of the Earth."
Davana is an aromatic herb from southern India. The plant is cultivated for its fragrant eaves and flowers, which are used in floral arrangements, religious offerings, and to produce an utterly unique essential oil. The resulting essential oil has a sweet, warm scent that is exotic, sensual, and intriguing. On its own, the oil provides a pleasant, herbaceous aroma with plum and raisin notes and a hint of wood. Once applied to the skin, the scent becomes beautifully adaptive, combining with every individual’s own chemistry for a personal fragrance that is completely unique to the wearer. doTERRA Touch Davana presents this essential oil in a base of Fractionated Coconut Oil to bring the aromatic benefits while being hydrating to the skin and helping to maintain the skin’s natural barrier.
The davana plant, Artemisia pallens, is also known as Dhananam, or by its Sanskrit name, Damanaka.
The Davana plant is a member of the Asteraceae family, and is a relative to the sunflower, daisy, and Roman chamomile flowers. It is a small, fragrant, flowering herb with soft, silver, fern-like leaves, and small yellow flowers. The plant is native to southern India, where it’s traditionally used by Ayurvedic practitioners. Often grown in the home gardens of India, the plant attracts many species of butterflies. Davana essential oil is steam distilled from the flower, leaf, and stem of the plant.
Because the aroma of doTERRA Touch Davana has natural notes of floral, fruit, and wood, it blends exceptionally well with essential oils from nearly every family. Blend with your favourite florals, with citrus oils like Grapefruit oil, Bergamot oil, or Green Mandarin oil, with woods and resins like Cedarwood oil, Frankincense oil, or Vetiver oil, or with spices like Cardamom oil and Clove Bud oil.
