Helichrysum gets its name from the Greek word helios, which means sun, and chrysos, which means gold. This description refers to the beautiful golden color of the flowers.
Helichrysum italicum is a small perennial herb with thin green stem and narrow, silver leaves. The flowers of this small shrub form in clusters of golden-yellow, ball-shaped blossoms. These golden flowers are the plant component used to produce Helichrysum essential oil through the process of steam distillation.
The aroma of Helichrysum oil blends well with essential oils that also benefit the skin such as Tea Tree oil, Myrrh oil, Frankincense oil, and Lavender oil
