HOW DO I USE SPIKENARD OIL?
  1. Meditation: Spikenard oil is a favorite for meditation because of its calm, relaxing aroma. To incorporate Spikenard oil into your meditative practices, apply one or two drops to the temples or back of the neck, breathe deeply, and center your thoughts on positive visualizations.
  2. Massage: The woody, musty scent of Spikenard essential oil makes it a powerful grounding aroma to accompany a relaxing massage. Combine one to two drops of Spikenard oil with 10 drops of Fractionated Coconut Oil and massage into desired area in gentle circles.
  3. Scalp and Nail Care: Spikenard oil is revered for its skin benefits, specifically due to its cleansing properties. Take advantage of these properties and add one drop to your shampoo for a boosted clean and for a healthy looking scalp. Alternatively, massage one drop into your cuticles to maintain clean- and healthy-looking fingernails.
  4. Skincare: For an enhanced skincare routine, add a few drops of Spikenard oil to your daily cleanser or favorite anti-aging product. You can also combine a drop of Spikenard essential oil with your daily moisturizer to promote a healthy, glowing complexion.
  5. Foot Care: Add one drop of Spikenard oil to a large bowl of steaming water for a grounding aroma during a warm footbath. This will also help improve the look and feel of your feet.  Alternatively, add a few drops of Spikenard oil to a DIY Foot Cream and apply before bed.

FUN FACT
For centuries, the Spikenard plant has been used traditionally in Ayurvedic holistic practices native to India, and was historically used to anoint those of high honor.

HOW IS SPIKENARD OIL SOURCED?
doTERRA sources Spikenard essential oil from Nepal, creating sustainable income for local Spikenard harvesters and distillers. Because many of these harvest areas are remote, it can be difficult for distillers and harvesters to receive the steady income necessary to support their families. With the doTERRA Co-Impact Sourcing™ initiative in Nepal, Spikenard harvesters and distillers can enjoy fair, regular, and on-time payments. Not only does this initiative help the harvesters themselves, but doTERRA also works to help these rural communities with special projects that aim to improve overall quality of life.

WHAT IS SPIKENARD OIL?
Native to the alpine regions of the Himalayas, Nardostachys jatamansi is a flowering plant that belongs to the Valerian family. The plant produces small, delicate pink flowers, and thrives in high altitudes, which is why it flourishes so easily in the Himalayan Mountains. Spikenard essential oil is extracted from the roots of the plant using the process of steam distillation.

WHAT OILS BLEND WELL WITH SPIKENARD?
When blending Spikenard oil with other essential oils, consider using woody or spicy oils like Clove Bud oil, Frankincense oil, Juniper Berry oil, Myrrh oil, or Vetiver oil, floral essential oils like Geranium oil or Lavender oil, or bright citrus essential oils like Wild Orange oil or Bergamot oil
