Tips from our Social Media Specialists
Twitter can be a little tricky to figure out in the beginning. We have put together some tips and tricks to get you started tweeting and re-tweeting in your sleep.
Set up a quality bio
Writing a strong, descriptive bio has a number of advantages—for you and for the people who follow you. For you, a strong bio can lead to more followers and be an ideal way to introduce yourself to others.
When writing a bio you want to be yourself. Don’t try to be funny if you’re not funny. Always play to your strengths. Also when writing your bio you want to be specific. Let people know you love doTERRA. Whatever your goals are on Twitter you want to state them in your Twitter bio.
Put your favorites into a list
Understanding how Twitter streams work can be a huge undertaking at first. Thankfully, there are Twitter lists to help.
The greatest value of lists is that you see the most important, original content from select groups of people. There are no re-tweets (unless someone does one manually). There is no sponsored content. In many ways, it is a Twitter for minimalists.
Interests are varied, so I suggest breaking out different topics into different lists. You may have a list for digital marketing, a list for doTERRA, or a list for food—it’s a welcome alternative to surfing the entire stream.
Schedule your posts
An incredibly important element to success on Twitter is consistency. Tweet often and tweet regularly. Consistency, however, doesn’t always fit into your schedule.
That’s why social media tools like Buffer and Hootsuite are so important. With a scheduler you can curate a bunch of great content to share (even re-tweets) and add it all to a queue that gets dispersed at the best times throughout the day. With these tools you can even respond to your tweets all in one place.
Get involved and have fun
Make it a goal to respond to everyone. Those of you who are longtime Twitter users might not be able to handle this volume of responses, but for Twitter virgins responding to anyone and anything is a huge part of being engaged in Twitter and growing your connections.
When someone re-tweets you, mentions you in a tweet, or favorites one of your tweets, they are seeking a connection with you. This is where the fun begins. It’s a cool thing when you start making friends and connections.
A great tip for making friends is re-tweeting people you want to follow you. People and brands love for people to re-tweet their stuff and be engaged.
