With the New Year fast approaching, November is a time for reflection. It is a time to set goals for the coming year and a time to consider what type of leader you intend to be in 2019.
Our advice? Lead by example!
Set trends, rather than following them. Trends can not only represent, but also dictate the direction an industry is heading in. It is important that your business keeps up to date with the trends in the market, to ensure you do not fall behind. Encourage your teams to keep up-to-date with what is happening in the market, and what messages their customers respond to.
“Do what you do so well that they will want to see it again and bring their friends”- Walt Disney
So now you understand the importance of keeping up to date with trends, you might be wondering how you can set them, rather than follow what others are doing:
1. Think like a Customer
What problems are people searching for a solution to? Where do people’s needs lie? Where is the gap in your team? Once you know the need, you can figure out the best way to address it!
2. Find your Competitive Edge
Basically, live your best life. Find what makes you stand out from the crowd, what makes you unique- what makes you special, and go with it! Don’t follow what others are doing, you just do you!
3. Engage your audience with information
Hold regular classes, find ways to communicate with your teams about what they want and figure out how you can give it to them!
Keeping up with the trends requires research but setting them requires creativity and passion. Broaden your horizons, stretch yourself, expand your scope, but most importantly; be a leader.
