The vision of Children's Ground is an Australia free from poverty and inequity... where First Nations families realise their aspirations for the next generation of children; to be free from trauma and suffering, enjoy equity and safety, be able to grow into adulthood happy and healthy and to have agency over their social, cultural, political and economic future.
Children's Ground is creating change with communities who have been devastated by entrenched inequity and disadvantage. Designed with First Nations people, Children’s Ground builds on the ability, strength and culture of communities while responding to trauma and creating opportunities. Children’s Ground is building generational change by supporting each child, in every family within Northern Territory communities over a 25-year period.
Through our collaboration with the charity Happy Green World and Children’s Ground at the doTERRA RISE Convention 2022, our community, together with the dōTERRA Healing Hands Foundation AUNZ has not only helped provide 300 environmental education resources to hundreds of children, we donated $25,000 towards the delivery of First Nations designed early childhood learning.
We are proud to walk with Children’s Ground as they strengthen early years learning for First Nations children in the Northern Territory.
"First and foremost, our kids need to be on Country because the Country is the classroom. It’s where the language lives. Our literacy is not just in letters, it is in our relationship to the land and with each other. It is in our songs and our practices that are tied to our Country and culture. How can you learn to read this if you’re not seeing it and feeling it? Living it? Having that strong connection to Country and language, especially in those first five years of a child’s life will strengthen them and their self-esteem from the start. You can’t separate Country from language." Amunda Gorey, Children's Ground community researcher, artist and Arrernte language teacher
