Cō-Impact Sourcing® and the dōTERRA Healing Hands Foundation™ in Kenya

A partnership with the Asante Foundation and a Co-Impact Sourcing partner is providing a Kenya community with clean water and educational opportunities.

With the announcement of the Co-Impact Sourcing farming operation in southern Kenya, the doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation was pleased to announce a partnership with Asante Foundation and in the same area. To begin the project, Asante facilitated a baseline study in a large community area to analyze the specific needs for the communities where small farmers are living. This objective deals specifically with infrastructure in transport, education, water, health, and community social facility sectors.

The first project facilitated by the doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation, with the Asante Foundation, will be to fund projects related to the Mwamose Primary School in Majoreni Village, located very near to the doTERRA Co-Impact Sourcing farming operation in Kenya. The project includes the following objectives:

Scholarship Program

Families in this area of Kenya can afford only to feed their families. For these poor families, the fees associated with school attendance often keep the children from attending school. By providing scholarships, the doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation is offering an opportunity for children from this poor village to attend school.

Schoolhouse Improvements

As more children are anticipated to attend school because of the scholarship program, the doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation is also helping with improvements to the Mwamose Primary School. Improvements include the construction of a school library, a staff room to accommodate 20 teachers, six washrooms for the kids, two teacher’s living rooms, one male teacher living room, and a meeting shade for the school. A laptop will also be provided for the head teacher at the school.

Kindergarten School Improvements

After the kindergarten school in this area of Kenya was carried away by heavy rains, the only school available for small children to attend was much farther from their homes. The doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation will help to renovate what remains of the local kindergarten school, providing 50 children the opportunity to attend.

Water Project

The doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation is helping to provide three water tanks to supply an adequate amount of clean water to the roughly 950 students that attend Mwamose Primary School. As access to clean water has historically been a significant challenge in this community, these water tanks are anticipated to not only supply water to the school, but to the surrounding community as well.
