A Do-It-Yourself (DIY) class, also know as a Make-and-Take class, gives each attendee the opportunity to make something that they can take home and use. This is an easy class idea that is great for both those who know about essential oils, and those who don’t. You can also combine a DIY class with an Intro to Essential Oils class. Here are our best tips on how to set up these classes:

  1. Customize your DIY projects to the time of year. For instance, make salt dough aromatherapy ornaments during Christmas time.

  2. Pick just one project that may be more complex or a variety of simple projects for attendees to choose from.

  3. While you cannot resell items that you make using essential oils, you can charge a fee for a DIY class. Base the cost on the extra items you will be buying (aside from the essential oils). While it can be helpful to ask people to pay beforehand, be aware that this can also make more work for you. It is usually effective to ask them to pay at the class. However, when someone RSVPs, be sure to ask them what they would like to make so that you know what materials you need to have.
