Building a School to Help Leprosy-Affected Communities in India

This Giving Tuesday, doTERRA Healing Hands has partnered with Rising Star Outreach to raise funds to build a brighter future for children in leprosy-affected communities. From December 3-17, 2024, the foundation seeks to raise $100,000 to support construction of a new school in Bihar, India, where children from leprosy-impacted backgrounds can access quality education and life-changing resources. Each donation will have twice the impact, with dōTERRA Healing Hands matching every dollar up to $50,000, bringing them closer to their $100,000 goal.

Donations will:

  • Provide essential classroom furniture and resources.
  • Fund the construction of classrooms, sewer systems, and a cricket field.
  • Create lasting educational opportunities for children in need.

Donations will also help empower people like Vijyr. After losing his wife three years ago, Vijyr became a single father to his two children. He and his family live in an especially impoverished leprosy colony, with no access to medical care or real educational opportunities for the children.

Donations will also help empower people like Vijyr. After losing his wife three years ago, Vijyr became a single father to his two children. He and his family live in an especially impoverished leprosy colony, with no access to medical care or real educational opportunities for the children.

Vijyr wants to provide for his family but can’t get steady work because he has to stay in the colony to care for his children, who have no school to attend. It’s the same for most of the 70 plus children who live in this colony.

Vijyr has put his son and daughter on the enrollment waitlist for the school in Bihar, hoping they’ll be able to gain a quality education and receive proper nutrition. This opportunity would also allow Vijyr to work and better provide for his family.

Every contribution, big or small, makes a meaningful difference. Donations can be made at doterrahealinghands.org from December 3-17.
