Simple and Complex Carbohydrates

All carbohydrates are made up of sugar chains, but some are metabolized differently. Simple carbohydrates are processed right away, spiking your blood sugar. Ultra-processed foods, desserts, and such are full of these simple carbs.

Complex carbohydrates are better for you than simple ones. Complex carbohydrates are aptly named, as their sugar chains are longer and more complicated to digest, making them “slower” and less likely to spike your blood glucose. Examples of complex carbs are whole grains, vegetables, and fruit. These foods are full of fiber and essential nutrients, adding to why they’re so much better for your body than junk food products, which aren’t usually nutrient-rich.

Mulberry Leaf Extract

Mulberry leaf extract is one of the most prominent and important ingredients in MetaPWR Assist because it helps all carbohydrates—fast and slow—act like slow ones. The iminosugars of the mulberry leaves interact with the digestive enzymes that metabolize carbohydrates, slowing their digestion so the glucose doesn’t hit your bloodstream as quickly.

When you take MetaPWR Assist with a meal, the mulberry leaf extract helps your body slow the digestion of the carbs you just ate. Of course, MetaPWR Assist is supposed to be paired with a healthy, balanced diet. It’s important to eat nutrient-rich, fiber-filled complex carbs. MetaPWR Assist gives your body extra help keeping those normal-range blood glucose levels steady.*

Blood Sugar Spikes and Aging

You may be wondering about the connection between blood sugar spikes, aging, and health-span. It’s said every time your blood sugar spikes, you age.

Think of your body like a car. If you put your foot to the floor to accelerate and then slam on the brakes, it’s going to wear down your car. It isn’t good for your brakes, tires, or seatbelt.

Spikes and crashes in your blood sugar, even within the normal range, are hard on your body and contribute to poor cellular functioning. The more you reduce your blood glucose and insulin curves, the better. Doing so helps enormously with energy levels too!

MetaPWR Assist Clinical Trial

We did a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial for two weeks with 15 participants, all of whom had a standardized meal at breakfast and continuous glucose monitoring throughout the day. None of the participants had diabetes. They were taking a placebo for the first week of the trial and MetaPWR Assist for the second week.

Blood glucose levels were measured every 15 minutes day and night, giving us fantastically useful data. We could easily track what was happening for hours after eating. Instead of picture snapshots like you get with traditional fingerstick glucose monitoring, it was more like watching a movie because the continuous glucose monitoring provided so much information.

Here’s a snapshot from the study. You’ll see these curves, which are a visual representation of a day in the life of a study participant’s blood glucose levels.

On the first Saturday of the trial, the participant was still using the placebo. The curve led to an average continuous blood glucose measurement of 102.

On the next Saturday, the participant was taking the real MetaPWR Assist. The average number was 89—a 13% drop just that week! The peaks and valleys in the measurements are smoother and gentler, which is exactly what you want with this product.*

This trial was a pilot study with a small group, so we were delighted to achieve statistical significance. It shows just how powerful MetaPWR Assist is, and we’re excited to release the results of our continued research as it’s completed. We can’t wait to discover and share more about the power and future of MetaPWR Assist.
