doTERRA Global Headquarters

Founded in the spring of 2008, doTERRA comes from humble beginnings. Yet, in just a few short years, this little company has risen to become the world leader in the sourcing, testing, manufacturing, and distribution of pure, tested-grade essential oils and oil-infused products. With offices spanning the globe, and with oils sourced from over 40 different countries, doTERRA is realizing its mission of getting essential oils into every home worldwide.

Sustained and record-breaking growth requires the necessary resources. One such resource is a place to call home. In March 2013, doTERRA broke ground for a new world headquarters. In partnership with VCBO, an architectural firm in Salt Lake City, and Jacobsen Construction, doTERRA’s new home started to take shape. Phase 1 was completed in July 2014, with phase 2 starting shortly after and completed a year later. A new office building, an integrated medical clinic, and a new distribution center have been added to help meet the needs of continued growth.

Innovative And Creative

Like doTERRA oils and products, the doTERRA corporate headquarters is a combination of traditional and innovative. Both the architect and the builders placed great emphasis on using state-of-the-art materials and techniques.

A campus the size of doTERRA’s headquarters requires a sure foundation. The campus required unique “geopiers.” Geopiers are created using a proprietary and innovative technique. Columns of rock are embedded into the ground without removing any dirt, compacting the soil and boosting the stability of the foundation. Each geopier measures 24 inches in diameter and 25 feet in depth

A sure foundation is just the first step in building a cutting-edge headquarters. You also need building materials. doTERRA’s commitment to responsible eco-logical stewardship drove the selection of those materials. The materials used are primarily from recycled sources. Even the construction waste was reclaimed, with over 76 percent of the material being taken to facilities to be recycled and reused in other projects.

Global Botanical Network

doTERRA’s commitment to providing only the purest and most potent essential oils starts with the raw plant materials used to produce the oils. Those plants are harvested in over 40 countries worldwide, creating a truly global botanical network.

Through the doTERRA Co-Impact Sourcing® model, doTERRA seeks to improve the quality of life for members of every community where we source our oils. Our partners are rigorously monitored and audited to ensure that they adhere to the doTERRA Sourcing Guiding Principles:

  1. Generating Jobs
  2. Providing Fair and On-time Payments
  3. Building Supplier Capacity
  4. Sustaining Long-term Partnerships
  5. Ensuring Fair Labor Conditions
  6. Promoting Cooperatives
  7. Ensuring Environmental Stewardship
  8. Facilitating Community Development

The Co-Impact Sourcing efforts work in harmony with the doTERRA charitable arm, the doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation®, to provide opportunity, education, and resources for these communities to continue to grow and progress.

Production And Manufacturing

While doTERRA sources its oils from all over the world, all those oils come to one location for quality testing and processing. After harvesting and distillation, essential oils are brought to the production and manufacturing plant here on the doTERRA campus. In a warehouse measuring over 278,000 square feet, oils are bottled in 16 bottling rooms—each capable of producing 100 bottles per minute! With over 300 employees working in our production and warehouse facility, things are always moving 24 hours a day, five days a week. Just check out these impressive numbers:

  • Over 400,000 bottles are produced every day.
  • Our production record is 479,600 bottles in one day.
  • From one tote of oil, we can produce:
    • 73,700 15ml bottles
    • 110,000 10ml bottles
    • 220,000 5ml bottles
  • We keep between 10 to 12 million bottles on hand—enough for roughly one month of production.

We keep between 10 to 12 million bottles on hand—enough for roughly one month of production

  • On average, we receive 4,317 kg of oil every business day
  • We ship out an average of 341,867 bottles of oil every business day
  • Between the two buildings, we have nearly 6,000 pallet locations
  • Every week we receive around 2,000,000 15ml bottles.
  • An average of 10,000kg of oil are moved into the filling rooms daily—that's over 300 moves a day!
  • On any given day, there is approximately 1,275,000kg of oil stored in the warehouse.

Certified Pure Tested Grade

Creating and distributing the world’s purest and most potent oils only comes through a firm commitment to quality. That commitment starts in the field, where we partner with growers and distillers to produce the best essential oils. That commitment continues in our lab, where we utilize an extensive 3-tier testing process to ensure oil purity, potency, and safety.

Tier 1: Initial Testing

  1. Organoleptic
  2. Gas Chromatography
  3. Mass Spectrometry
  4. Chiral GC
  5. Isotope Carbon 14

Tier 2: Secondary Validation

  1. Organoleptic
  2. Refractive Index
  3. TPC/Microbial
  4. FTIR Scan
  5. Heavy Metals/Pesticides

Tier 3: Final Validation

  1. Organoleptic
  2. TPC/Microbial
  3. FTIR Scan
  4. Stability Studies

The innovative CPTG™ protocol includes stability studies, where essential oils are monitored and tested long after the oils are sold. This testing ensures the essential oils remain at the same leading standard of quality even years after purchase.

All of these tests are conducted in our lab, where trained professionals keep a close eye on every result, all to ensure that customers and Wellness Advocates receive the best possible benefit from our doTERRA essential oils.

Product Center

Open to Wellness Advocates and the public alike, the Product Center on the doTERRA campus is always busy. In the Product Center, orders for doTERRA oils and products can be placed and picked up. As you wait for your order, you’ll also have the opportunity to watch informative videos.

Auditorium And Multi-Purpose Room

With seating for 279, the doTERRA Auditorium was de-signed with the help of acoustic engineers to maximize the sound quality of the space, making this an ideal place for meetings, concerts, and more.

The auditorium actually sits 5.5 feet lower than the rest of the campus, providing extra space for stadium seating. Additionally, the auditorium features two reception areas for gathering and socializing.

For large events and trainings, the doTERRA headquarters features a multi-purpose room that can be divided in half and set up to meet the needs of nearly any group.

Member Services

doTERRA supports a growing field of Wellness Advocates worldwide—a monumental task accomplished by a fully staffed Member Services team that offers phone, email, and chat support around the clock to more than 100 countries. Over 1,500 employees that speak more than 20 languages are on hand to help with any need you might have.

CaféTERRA, And Fitness Facility

What could give the doTERRA headquarters more of a sense of home? Perhaps excellent food?

The corporate campus features CaféTERRA, which offers a menu of healthy foods. When you’re looking for healthy, flavorful food that is quick and delicious, join us at CaféTERRA.

But a good diet is only part of a healthy lifestyle. You’ll also need to exercise. doTERRA employees can achieve that second half of health in the onsite exercise facility. Health is a primary aspect of all we do at doTERRA, and our offices reflect that.

Plaza

Located behind the Arrival Center is a peaceful oasis where employees and visitors can gather to enjoy the beauty of nature in a serene setting. An infinity pool with a double drop sets the stage with the soothing sounds of running water. The pool itself was designed to appear to join seamlessly with the carefully maintained wetlands.

The doTERRA campus consists of 60 acres. Beautiful walkways allow visitors to relax and reflect as they stroll around the property. Carefully manicured grounds featuring plants hand-chosen for the site add to the peaceful serenity.

As you tour the plaza, you’ll no doubt notice several features of the buildings themselves. Nearly 100,000 LED lights illuminate the building tops each night. The lights can be adjusted to shine in just about any color. The sun shades serve a deceptively simple purpose. While they do block some sunlight, the louvres are set at a specific angle to allow in more light and warmth during winter months while blocking light and heat during the summer, making the building more energy efficient.

Building F

One of the recent additions to the doTERRA campus, Building F sits to the east of the original campus and adds an additional 67,000 square feet. In addition to the new office space and plenty of meeting rooms, this building houses a 1,000 square foot video studio space complete with a green screen.

Perhaps what employees appreciate most about this facility, however, is the addition of "doTERRA Kids"— a childcare facility that provides day care services for up to 85 children. The kids have plenty of room to play, including in the attached outdoor play area with a shade trellis.

Arrival Center

For those who are curious to learn more about doTERRA and essential oils, the Arrival Center, located in the middle of the corporate offices, provides a collection of informative videos and displays. Here, people can gather to learn more and to visit.

The doTERRA corporate headquarters represents an incredible investment not only in the essential oils industry, but also in the local economy. Knowing that the campus would serve more than just doTERRA, the founders were careful to design and build something that would represent the great people of our local community. The results have been several awards, including:

  • Utah Construction and Design’s Most Outstanding Project, Commercial: 2015
  • Excellence in Masonry Design Awards—Honor Design for Exterior Stone Walls: 2015
  • Excellence in Concrete Award for Pavement, Flat Work, and Site Work: 2015
  • International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Awards—People’s Choice: 2015
  • AGC of Utah Project of the Year, Corporate Campus

Leadership Suite

The purpose of the doTERRA headquarters is to bring all the different parts of the company together, creating greater connections and relationships—no small feat as the sheer length of the campus attests. The entire frontage of the corporate buildings, connected by a single, 15-foot-wide hallway, measures over 600 feet, or the length of two football fields.

With literally thousands of employees working at the headquarters, efficiencies were a major consideration for the campus, including energy use. Every light is connected not only to motion sensors, but light sensors as well that detect ambient light levels and adjust accordingly. The campus also features Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) boxes. Each box customizes the climate for approximately 750 square feet of office space, allowing employees to adjust their climate to their comfort.

A very important part of doTERRA is our continually growing family of Wellness Advocates. The corporate campus not only brings all our employees together, it also provides space and resources for our Wellness Advocates. One such resource is the Leadership Suite, where Silvers and above can come to host meetings and receive help as they build their businesses.

Atrium And Diamond Suite

Visitors and employees are first greeted in the grand atrium. Here they enjoy the beauty of the nature motif of the backdrop to the staircase and the vast openness of the atrium itself. Four stunning chandeliers hang from the 60-foot ceiling. These chandeliers are original artworks handcrafted by world-renowned artist Tom Holdman. Together, they perpetuate the philosophy of the role of nature in doTERRA. Each chandelier is over 10 feet tall and weighs nearly 500 pounds.

Adjacent to the atrium is the Diamond Suite. Here, doTERRA wellness advocates who have reached the prestigious rank of Diamond or above have a private area where they can conduct business, hold meetings, or gather to socialize and share ideas.

Executive Boardroom

Many people visit the doTERRA campus, including different Wellness Advocates, dignitaries, suppliers, and business partners. Meetings with special visitors are often held in the Executive Boardroom on the fourth floor. This room, as well as the reception area, offers a spectacular view and amenities to make meetings productive and memorable.

The Executive Boardroom also features another Tom Holdman chandelier. But this chandelier has a special twist—it was created with the help of the doTERRA founders and their families. Throughout the building, you’ll notice beautiful artwork. Many of the nature paintings were done specifically for doTERRA by Chris Young, an artist known for his ultra-realistic style. The executive suite features two murals created by Chris. The first depicts the Tsarevets Fortress in Veliko Tarnova, Bulgaria. This historical landmark is close to Bulgaria’s largest distillery, Esseterre, where doTERRA sources its Lavender and Melissa essential oils. The second mural is of the Amalfi coast in Ravello, Italy. There, doTERRA sources Lemon and Bergamot essential oils.

As you enter the executive suite, you may also have noticed shadow boxes featuring small dolls. These dolls were made in a community in Guatemala. The citizens in that community have been the recipients of the work done by the doTERRA non-profit charitable organization, the doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation. These dolls were purchased to further support the growing local economy.

doTERRA Medical Clinic

The Prime Meridian Medical Complex is a first of its kind. Here, doctors and patients work together to improve health through integrative healthcare, which blends traditional western medicine and holistic approaches. The three story building will provide 41,000 square feet. This includes space for ten providers on the first floor. There are also imaging services (X-ray and Ultrasound) as well as a pharmacy. The building is warm and inviting, bringing elements of nature from the nearby outdoors into the design. Unique, stained-glass butterflies created by Holdman Studios greet patients as they enter the building.

doTERRA Fulfillment Center

Across the highway is our new Lindon fulfillment Center. It is 327,000 Sq ft, the equivalent of six football fields. This fulfillment center opened in May of 2020. With 250 employees working two shifts, the fulfillment center can pick, pack and ship 18,000 orders each day. The all-time record for orders shipped in one day is 43,000. All US return packages are processed here. The center receives 100 pallets of material each day, and ships out 100 pallets of product daily to foreign markets and North American distributors

The World Is Our Campus

doTERRA maintains an impressive Global Botanical Network, sourcing our essential oils from over 40 different countries. But that’s only part of the story. There are also Wellness Advocates all around the world. Supporting that incredible group of enthusiastic representatives requires local support. To that end, doTERRA maintains offices in the following markets:

  • Australia
  • Brazil
  • Canada
  • Chile
  • China
  • Colombia
  • Costa Rica
  • Germany
  • Hong Kong
  • India
  • Japan
