Cistus Extract

Cistus extract is derived from the Cistus ladaniferus shrub, which is native to the Mediterranean region. This hardy plant thrives in dry, rocky soils and produces delicate white flowers with a rich, resinous aroma. The extract (often sourced from the leaves and stems) is renowned for its warm, earthy, and slightly sweet scent with a hint of amber, making it a sought-after ingredient in high-end perfumes and incense.

Historically, the extract has been used for centuries in the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cultures for its aromatic properties. The resin, known as labdanum, was traditionally collected by combing the beards of goats and sheep that grazed among Cistus plants, as the sticky substance would cling to their fur.
