Today, we're excited to talk to Audrey Saunders about how you can support your immune system all year long.
doTERRA: Audrey, thank you so much for joining us today.
Audrey Saunders: Thank you for having me.
doTERRA: This is a topic that I'm really excited to talk to you with about, especially as we're heading into some of the colder months. So, to begin with, I want to ask you, how do proper daily wellness habits affect our immune system?
Audrey: Wow, that's a great question. There's so much and it's such a lot to unpack.
I think about our immune system and our bodies just being well, when I think about our immune system. And sometimes with all of the things around us, from the seasonal threats, from the toxic foods, from the environmental things, those things to me that really cause problems with our immune system and the situation of a lot of people don't know what they don't know. And with that being a big problem, we tend to find ourselves in a rabbit hole when it comes to our health, and we're trying to really crawl our way out.
doTERRA: Absolutely. So, can you share with us maybe one or two simple habits that our listeners could be adopting, could be changing in their lives now to strengthen their immune systems?
Audrey: I can say the top of my list is control my plate. You know, I have this thing that I say to lots of people when I'm just talking in general about health, just being a practitioner, is you've got to be safe at the plate. That means you are in control of that. Nobody else is really forcing you to eat this or that. Now do they make suggestions? Absolutely.
But what I do is I try to do what I call eating a rainbow every day-- eating as much color as I can and making sure I get my water. Because I know all those things contribute to better quality health and for the lack of a better word, if you think about it, a longer lifestyle, because those things we all have to do.
And last, making sure I get good sleep because I know that when my body is resting or sleeping, I know it makes a difference of what my next day is going to be like.
doTERRA: I think that is totally right, and I think that sleep is something we always kind of forget about. We think of all the things we should be doing when we're awake, and then we forget about the sleep aspect.
Audrey: So true.
doTERRA: Audrey, which doTERRA products would you then recommend for people to include in their routines to make sure we're supporting a healthy body?
Audrey: Okay, do we have enough time. I could go from A to Z.
But if I say some of my top ones, I love starting my day off with the Adaptiv®. My favorite before that was doTERRA Balance®, and I love that one as well. But I don't know. It's something about the Adaptiv and maybe the many ways that you all offer it to us. We can take it internally, we can diffuse it, which is something I do every single day, because I love the study that you all did about Adaptiv. But also use it as a cologne. I don't buy the colognes to put on my body. So, that's one of my favorites.
Now Frankincense, we know that's the king of all the oils, and it's king in my home too, because I do use it to, of course, help with any issues that my body may be dealing with because it kind of communicates to me, to all my cells. So, whether I'm using it on my skin for a better quality there, or just taking it internally--it's just a go-to oil. And just like they say: "When in doubt, pull that Frankincense out." That's definitely something that I do.
Another one of my favorites that I've found here lately is Cinnamon Bark. Now I know it comes in a small bottle, but it is super power packed and the taste of it is just off the chart. It kind of, you know, as we talk about bringing a memory to us, it does remind me of when I was a little girl and I ate those peppermint candies. Well, I can eat this without guilt because I know it's not damaging my teeth, but it really is helping with a lot of other things.
But I just love the flavor that it adds to my water. And even my grandchildren--and they're little, I mean, they're toddlers-- they won't drink any water unless it's my water because of the way it tastes. It's like, "No, I want Mimi's water because, you know, there's just something about that."
And if I say my last one, because I'm trying to just pick four, it would be my doTERRA Deep Blue® with a touch of Peppermint on top. Because once I put my doTERRA Deep Blue on before I go to bed, I put Peppermint on top of it because there's something about Peppermintthat causes that doTERRA Deep Blue to marinate into my body. It feels so good when I go to sleep and I'm like, out for the count.
doTERRA: Absolutely. And Audrey, if we do start to feel like our immune system needs a little bit extra support, what products do you recommend using?
Audrey: doTERRA On Guard® would be my first one--doTERRA On Guard all day, all the time. Whether it's my hand sanitizer, using it in my kitchen products (that that one happens to be my favorite, your doTERRA On Guard line) to me is this the go-to because of what it really does. And considering it's our protective blend and I feel, it's protecting us.
And then of course, I add my Lemon. So, I do my Lemon with my tea, I'll do my Lemon just in water. Sometimes I do a Lavender lemonade. I mean, it just depends on how I want to do it. I even take my doTERRA On Guard though--speaking of doTERA On Guard--and go on back, and make a chai tea out of it.
So, I try to make sure those are--so, any of the citrus oils would be some that I recommend. But a couple of--they're not so much in oils always, but the DDR Prime®--that's one. I love putting that in my navel in the mornings and at night. And then just to stay well, I take it in a capsule form, as well as the PB Assist+®. That product is really good for my gut support. And all these things to me, kind of help with my immune system.
That really helps to make me feel like I'm moving in the direction that I want my body to move in, and my body kind of gives me the wink and says, "Yep, that's just what I need."
