Today we're excited to talk to Samantha Lewis, a member of the doTERRA Product Marketing team, about the amazing Costa Bio Blend.
doTERRA: Samantha, thank you so much for being with us today.
Samantha Lewis: Thanks for having me.
doTERRA: I am so excited to talk about this blend because it is brand new. We haven't had it before. So to start off, let's take a dive into Costa Brio and can you tell us maybe what the thought was behind creating this blend?
Samantha Lewis: Yes. We are so excited about the new Costa Brillo Enlivening Blend. We really wanted to make a blend focused around South American-influenced aromas, with kind of a masculine leaning twist. In doing this too, we made sure to keep a lot of South America, and Latin American ingredients in there, especially leaning into a lot of our incredible Oo-Impact Sourcing stories in Latin America. So as a diffuser blend, first and foremost, it had to perform best when diffused. And really, that's what you're going to see with Costa Brio. We know Breu Branco, Guaiacwood, Copaiba, and Wild Orange would be absolutely necessary to tell that quintessential South American fragrance story while bringing in masculine, earthy, smoky richness to the overall aromatic experience.
As Costa Brio was developed, it evolved into a balance of smoky woods, herbal freshness and some bright citruses. And I think it's really perfectly balanced when diffused. So give it a chance, diffuse it throughout your home. And I just, I don't know, I hope you have an incredible experience and it can transport you into a South American kind of vibe and escape.
doTERRA: That sounds absolutely incredible. And I know you mentioned a couple of the oils there, but can you give us a deeper look into what the oils are that are inside this blend?
Samantha Lewis: Absolutely. So the enlivening blend starts with the earthy and smoky undertones of Guayaquil that I mentioned, and then complemented with bright and uplifting notes of wild orange and lemon. Then we've got Copaiba adding some warmth, Petitgrain, bringing in a really fresh and almost lightly floral element. I love Petitgrain and Cedarwood, enhances the richness and rounds this out with its comforting, woody aroma. And then let's not forget Magnolia Leaf, which adds a subtle, sweet floral nuance.
And Breu Bronco jumps in with a resinous balsamic quality, while Bergamot Mint provides a minty freshness that just uplifts it right at the end. It's really beautiful, and then Fennel adds a hint of herbal sweetness. We've got Peru balsam or balsam Peru, which contributes a warm, comforting undertone. Kind of brings in a little bit of a vanilla type note, and then Pink Pepper spices things up with its lively and invigorating touch, while Tonka Bean adds a sweet, creamy note that ties it all together.
doTERRA: Wow, that is a powerhouse combination, and definitely some lesser known unsung heroes that play a contributing part in there. That sounds fantastic.
Samantha Lewis: Definitely. We're super excited to bring some of these new oils into here, like the Breu Bronco, for sure. That's the first time that we're really seeing this outside of our Brazil market. So we're excited to tell the Breu Bronco story.
doTERRA: Absolutely. And Samantha, what is it that makes this blend so perfect for the summertime, which is kind of when released it and for diffusing and really anywhere that you want to use it?
Samantha Lewis: So maybe it's just me, but here in the northern hemisphere, I feel like we're often yearning for warmer weather. Costa Brio, in my opinion, perfectly embodies summer below the equator, so it's able to bring a different summertime vibe, this warmth, this richness. It's a harmonious blend of earthy, spicy, fruity and floral that we've talked about, and they really capture the spirit of this vibrant and diverse continent.
I love inspiration and imagery and movies even that take place in South America. And so we've really wanted to capture that. And I feel like we've been able to capture that with the enlivening blend. It's like bringing a piece of South America into your home, infusing your home with warmth, vitality and a sense of adventure. That's another kind of piece of the inspiration for Costa Brio. It really captures the sun and freshness when you imagine exploring the various areas of South America that these oils are sourced from.
doTERRA: Wow, you paint such a good picture. I can almost smell it. Even though we're just talking about. I can almost smell what it must smell like.
Samantha Lewis: I'm so excited for you to try it. It's it's incredible. You have to let me know what you think.
doTERRA: Of course. And so finally, before we end, I want to know what your advice is on how or when you like to use this blend the most?
Samantha Lewis: As our Father's Day offering, I think this blend is a really unique take on a home aroma while captivating masculine tones for the men in our life. I mean, it's not just for men, but we really wanted to bring a more masculine home, aroma and the lineup. Predictably, I would diffuse this for summertime dinner parties even when celebrating Father's Day this summer. But I also think this blend could be the next big men's personal aroma added to a beard oil or an unscented body wash, so you guys will have to try it out that way.
Let me know what the men in your life think. My husband has actually used up all my formulation samples that I brought home as a cologne over the last few months. He has loved it. So really, I feel like the best use is for the men in our life, or for those who enjoy more masculine aromas, whether that's on the skin or throughout the home.
doTERRA: Absolutely. Well, it sounds incredible. Samantha, thank you so much for sitting down with us today and helping us explore this new amazing blend. Absolutely.
I'm so excited for you guys to get your hands on it, if you haven't already, and use it in the home and see what you think. Find some fun new ways to utilize Coastal Brio and bring that South American vibe into the home.
