Giving the gift of health and well-being is no small challenge. We want our loved ones to live healthy, happy lives, but how can you gift someone health and happiness? One way, especially with Mother’s Day just around the corner, is to give the gift of essential oils.
While you can certainly give a bottle of your favorite oil, sometimes knowing how to use the oil can be challenging for those new to essential oils. That’s why using your favorite essential oil in a gift is a great way to introduce friends and family to the benefits of essential oils without overwhelming them. From sugar scrubs to charcuterie boards, we have plenty of ideas to elevate your gift-giving game.
You likely know that essential oils are versatile, but did you know that you can even use them to flavor your water and give your body extra benefits? Staying hydrated is crucial for your overall health, and while drinking plain water does the trick, sometimes adding the flavor and added health benefits with essential oils helps make it easy to increase your water intake.

Of course, all of these flavors are delicious on their own, but the fun really starts when you combine flavors to create a unique drink that will keep your taste buds and body happy. Classics like a lemon-lime drink are delicious, but orange and lemon, lavender and lemon, or grapefruit and lime are also refreshing options. Remember to try sparkling water with all of these flavors to find a combination you love, or if you need a sweet and refreshing treat, try adding your ingredients to a blender with ice, like this strawberry citrus slush.
Healthy-looking nails and cuticles are not just important for aesthetic reasons. Keeping your cuticles and nail beds hydrated will help you feel confident and avoid the possibility of experiencing discomfort.
Start with either a roller ball or a bottle with a brush cap (like an empty nail polish bottle.) Clean your container thoroughly, then add your carrier oil. We recommend using avocado oil, as it is naturally high in fat, or almond oil which is known for its moisturizing properties. Either of these carrier oils will work beautifully as the base for your DIY cuticle oil.
Add 4 drops of Lavender essential oil and 4 drops of Geranium essential oil for every tablespoon of carrier oil.
Close the lid, shake well, and use it once or twice a day by swiping or rolling in a “u” shape around your fingernail.
Lavender essential oil not only smells amazing and provides a relaxing aroma, but it may also help reduce the appearance of skin imperfections. Geranium essential oil also has a relaxing aroma and may promote the appearance of clear skin. Combining the soothing scents of Geranium and Lavender essential oil and their respective skin benefits may help promote healthy cuticles without the use of harsh chemicals.
You can’t go wrong with a great charcuterie board, but we’ve all seen just about everything these delicious snack boards have to offer. That is until you add essential oils to your board! Not only will essential oils enhance the flavor of your favorite charcuterie snack, but they can provide a variety of health benefits as well.
Start with your favorite charcuterie basics: bread/crackers, meats, cheeses, olives, nuts, and fruit. Then, grab your olive oil and add your favorite flavors to the oil—think balsamic vinegar, fresh garlic, parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, etc. Now, this is where the fun begins—add a drop or two of essential oil to your olive oil mixture. Use your creativity to create new flavors by combining your essential oils with your favorite charcuterie board food.
Oregano essential oil not only adds a slightly bitter, earthy flavor to your charcuterie board, but it can also help maintain healthy immune function and support healthy digestion function when taken internally.*
Rosemary essential oil is one of the most versatile flavors you can use in your charcuterie board, especially when paired with a sharp cheddar or parmesan. These cheeses enhance the peppery, lemon, and pine tastes in Rosemary. When taken internally, Rosemary essential oil may support healthy digestion and can help reduce nervous tension.*
Basil essential oil is perfect for just about any charcuterie board, especially a board that includes feta and mozzarella, or is heavy on olive oil. In fact, if all you have is a sprinkle of kosher salt, two tablespoons of olive oil, and Basil essential oil, you have the makings for a delicious bread dip. Basil essential oil may support nervous system health when consumed internally.*
Thyme essential oil has a sharp, earthy, minty flavor, making it an interesting flavor to add to your charcuterie board. Goat cheese and figs are a great pairing with thyme’s unique flavor. Thyme essential oil may help support a healthy immune response, making it a healthy pairing in any meal.*
It’s time to stop buying expensive and chemical-filled scrubs from the store. Not only do they drain your wallet, but the extra ingredients aren’t doing your body any favors. Making your own sugar scrub at home is less expensive with cleaner ingredients, and you can create your own custom scents.
Start by deciding what type of sugar you want to use—white organic sugar, brown sugar, raw sugar, or coconut sugar. Opting for coconut or brown sugar will give your scrub a sweeter scent while white sugar and raw sugar have a more neutral scent. If you are making a scrub you want to use on your lips, consider using a type of sugar you won’t mind ingesting, like this recipe that calls for brown sugar and honey. Then choose your carrier oil—you can choose any that you know your skin likes, but if you aren’t sure, start with fractionated coconut oil. Next, choose your essential oil. We love Lime essential oil for its purifying properties and our Madagascar Vanilla essential oil adds a soft and sweet scent to your scrub. Remember to have fun with it and combine scents and flavors you may not typically enjoy together, like this Strawberry Sugar Lime Scrub. Use about a cup of sugar, ¼-½ cup of fractionated coconut oil, and 15-20 drops of your preferred essential oil, and enjoy soft skin for days.
If you’ve experienced the benefits of using essential oils, you probably want to share the benefits with your friends and family. Giving them a unique gift using doTERRA essential oils not only says “I want to give you a gift” it says, “Your health and well-being matter to me, so I got you a gift that supports a healthy, happy life.” It’s easier than ever to use essential oils to give meaningful gifts, and your friends and family will thank you for opening their eyes to all the ways essential oils can be used in everyday life.
