Magnolia is an indulgent tropical flower with soothing benefits. In traditional Chinese and Thai practices, magnolia flowers have been used in balancing routines. A coveted ingredient in high-end perfumes, magnolia oil is distilled from the fresh petals of a flowering tree.
Magnolia is a precious, costly essential oil because of the difficulty growing and harvesting the blossoms. It's frequently used in aromatherapy for its relaxing properties and in natural perfumes for its desirable scent.
Magnolia Touch combines exquisitely fragrant Magnolia essential oil sourced in China with Fractionated Coconut Oil. Packaged in a convenient roller bottle, Magnolia Touch is a beautiful natural fragrance. It has a fresh, floral, and slightly herbaceous aroma. When applied topically, it soothes and moisturizes the skin.
Magnolia blossoms must be handpicked early in the morning or late in the evening to extract the essential oil.
There are over 200 varieties of magnolia, a genus of flowering plants native to Asia and the Americas. Magnolia essential oil comes from Michelia x alba, a variety that flourishes in Southeast Asia. This magnolia variety is also called the white champaca or white jade orchid tree. It bears fragrant flowers twice per year, which have a fresh, floral, and fruity aroma somewhat reminiscent of champagne.
Magnolia trees can grow to nearly 100 feet tall. Traditionally, farmers harvesting the flowers would erect scaffolding around the trees to pick the magnolia flowers. At some point, farmers began cultivating shorter trees. To do this, farmers grow the trees in giant wooden or cement containers. Once the magnolia trees have grown to a sufficient size, farmers plant them in the ground but still in containers. The trees continue to grow, but they grow outward rather than up, allowing harvesters to pick the flowers with greater safety. Magnolia trees grown in this manner mature to about six feet tall. Magnolia blossoms can be harvested off the trees in the summer and again in the late fall or early winter.
Magnolia essential oil is chemically similar to Ylang Ylang, Lavender, and Bergamot essential oils, which are all high in linalool. Because of the high linalool content, Magnolia offers powerfully soothing benefits to the skin.
Magnolia Touch can be used alone or blended with oils like Bergamot, Jasmine, Melissa, Lemon, Ylang Ylang, Coriander, Wild Orange, Grapefruit, Lavender, Neroli, and Rose.
